Reading as a form of SELF-HELP is an effective way of taking control of your situation.

Reading on line or from books about an issue of concern can build your confidence to tackle a problem for yourself, or understand how to help somebody close to you who is suffering emotionally.

The Lost For Words campaign began to circulate information about depression, suicide, grief, parenting and other issues, by offering a ‘free to borrow and return’ set of books from a market stall.  Early in 2012 this seemed the fasted way to get well-needed information out into the community quickly.  The books were paid for by donations from Aurora Rotary and personal donations from LFWs committee.  Our stock of books is now out in the community and we hope they are being circulated freely, by those who have read them, to those who need them.  Recommendations of books remain on our list below.  However, online information is now a more immediate and much wider source of information, so please use our links to find out more about mental health issues.

If you have borrowed any books from the LFWS stock, please return when finished to The Salvation Army in the Bell Centre, Melton Mowbray.

The sites below list literature on a range of emotional problems and mental illnesses high quality, practical resources for professionals, carers, and individuals working in Speech & Language Therapy, Mental Health, Elderly Care, Special Needs and Education.
