We have included this section because, it is a fact that if you are out of work, and have no idea what to do as a job, life can be challenging, not only financially, but emotionally too, as confidence and self-esteem suffer when we have no direction in life or potential to earn.  Motivating yourself to write a CV, fill in an application and prepare for an interview can be stressful.  Also, knowing what kind of job to do can be hard if you don’t know what is out there.  The following links may help.

Prospects (previously known as Connexions) are running a JOB CLUB for young people in need of support to find a job, get training, college place or write a CV.  Get help at the following venues in Melton Mowbray:

Job Centre, Scalford Road,LE13 1JA, on Mondays or Fridays 9-4pm.  Ask for Clive from PROSPECTS.

Venture House Youth Centre, Asfordby Road, LE13 OHN, Wednesdays 1-3pm.

The Government Job Seekers website matches your skills to available jobs.  You have to sign up and get a pass code, then upload a CV. There is a lot of information on this site about Apprenticeships and Legal Working Rights.  If you are unsure about how to sign up to Jobseekers, advisors from the Leicestershire Adult Learning Service (LALS) can help you (see below).

The Melton Learning Hub works with young people who are struggling or have been excluded from mainstream school. An innovative and exciting alternative educational programme, there are many vocational courses for students to earn qualifications and skills and more.

The Prince’s Trust offers young people (16-25yrs) who are working for less than 16 hours a week, training opportunities through short courses aimed at up-skilling and gaining experience. Fill in an online contact form or call 0800 842 842.

The Worth It Projects  offer personnel development for Young people.  If you are aged 14- years old and sometimes feel worried, low or out of control, the FIRST programme can help you gain control , feel happier and get on with your life.  Contact LIZ on 07749 125877.

SKILLS 4 JOBS  Need Maths, English or IT qualifications to get into work? Need work advice? Help with CV? Skills Update? FREE courses to anyone over 19 who is looking for work. Call 0116 305 7806 (Rings in Melton Office).

Enrol on courses to KICKSTART your way into way with the Leicestershire Adult Learning Service.(LALS)  Lots of FREE courses and local help drop ins.

Voluntary Action Leicester (VAL) have many volunteering opportunities which can help you gain skills, experience and sometimes qualifications which can all help get into paid employment.  For one-to-one advice visit the VAL clinic at Melton Library on Wilton Road, Tuesdays 10-12pm.
